Every step you take, every move you make is creating you. The food you eat, the air you breathe, the things you read, the actions you take are all playing a role in determining what you’ll be like tomorrow or ten years from now.
What are your influences? That’s what we talked about in Helping and Listening Skills this week. We came up with a great list and I liked it so much I took a picture of it.
I asked the students to tell me about the things that influence them. What do they value? Why do they do what they do; love what they love? This is the list they came up with:

The point I want to make in this class is that you cannot know any of these things about yourself or anyone else unless you first learn how to listen.
A great Master Mind group is one that’s committed to honoring and respecting each other and that includes listening unconditionally and without judgment. It is honoring a person to trust that they know what’s best for their own life.
—————
When you think about it, every musical act you know of is using the Master Mind principle whether they realize it or not. They are joining together as a team with a combined vision. You can use the same principle and make some truly rockin’ things happen in your life.
Do you have a creative project you want to complete? Do you want to find a purpose for your life?
If so, I invite you to come over to my brand new page called Start a Master Mind Group.com. I’m offering 4 freebies to get you started so you can get a sense of what the Master Mind is all about.
I am the instructor of three college classes: Introduction to Addictive Behaviors, Stress Management for the Helping Professional and Helping and Listening Skills. On a personal level I follow the daily A Course in Miracles lessons and often read from The Bible, the Science of Mind textbook, Catherine Ponder books and Think and Grow Rich.
I am constantly surrounded by teachings about the mind.
This immersion has been beneficial in many ways. I have overcome many hardships and I’ve accomplished goals that I never dreamed possible. But there was one area I was not willing to touch. I tried desperately for most of my life to avoid the deepest emotional issues. I told myself it “didn’t matter” and it was “in the past.”
About 2 years ago, when I had my own personal business and financial crisis, it was obvious that I had no choice but to go deep if I wanted to reclaim my life.
Today I was sitting at a coffee shop and this is what I wrote. Perhaps you can relate:
“Somehow this feels like a big day even though technically “nothing” is happening. It’s 12:17 and the lunch crowd is gathering. I notice I’m afraid of dying rather than exhilarated to be alive. I begin to switch my course gracefully because it seems too drastic to do it suddenly. It seems I truly will die if I try – if only from the shock. My system is slowly adjusting to 2010, to being 44, to being responsible for my life. To growing up. I’m not sure where I was before. Sometimes 1967, other times 1986 or 1992. In the Hell of the past. Very rarely right here, right now.
I’m beginning to see the possibilities. This 2010 world has some pretty cool advantages.
An adventurer could truly seize these opportunities.
I could be an adventurer.
It is entirely up to me.
A few of the tools I’ve used in my journey to awakening include Holosynch, EFT and hypnosis. Did you get your free Create the Life You Want hypnosis MP3 yet? If not, click here.
First there was a Flip Video camera, given to someone like me who loves gadgets, has an idea a minute and some time off for the holidays. Second there is the resulting video. In less than two minutes I will list seven things that Galvanize My Mind. When you galvanize your mind it becomes fun and easy to create new habits. Here’s my list for the past week:
1. Strolling the streets of Bluff Park with my iPod
2. Going to the farmer’s market
3. Snuggling with my cat
4. Working out on the bluff with Your Next Victory
5. Visualizing my ideal 2010 and beyond
6. Reading good Tweets
7. Watching Hello Ross on YouTube
This and more captured in my “not quite 2 minute” video. If you can’t see the video here, watch it on You Tube.
You’ll see me doing push-ups at the beach with a pink wig on and you’ll meet Fenix, my persian tabby cat. One of my favorite clips is “Boys on Bikes.” I was out strolling the sidewalks of Bluff Park in Long Beach with my Flip Video in hand and a group of about 10 young men on skateboards and bicycles rode by, it was pretty exciting. Some of us screamed in joy. Including me. It’s on video.
Beginning January 6, 2010, Rev. Ahman will conduct Healing School every Wednesday night at 7 p.m.

This week on The Sheri and Erin Show we interviewed Ahman on the topic of healing fear. Fear is the culprit of a happy life. Healing your perception is the key to freedom.
Ahman is a teacher of A Course in Miracles and the Bible. Listening to his unique perspective on these two books is one way to achieve mental healing.
I am not exaggerating when I say that Erin, Ahman and I all experienced healing just from being a part of the conversation. I’ve deciding to re-listen so I can get even more clear on how to heal fear so I can live free.
If fear stands between you and your dreams or ideal relationships, you’ll want to listen to this show. Once you hear this show, you’ll probably want to catch Ahman live. He will be speaking at Guidance Church in Los Angeles on November 22. The topic is Healing Anger and the service starts at 10 a.m. I’ll be there and I hope you will too.
I hear this quote often but I can never get enough of it. I did a little investigating and I found out that the quote is from Marianne Williamson, not A Course in Miracles and not Nelson Mandela, though he did use it in one of his speeches.
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that frightens us most. We ask ourselves, ‘Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and famous?’ Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that people won’t feel insecure around you. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in all of us. And when we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”
This week on The Sheri and Erin Show, Sheri and Erin talked about awareness, consciousness and owning your personal power. They also talked about the importance of choosing your media wisely. This show will give you tools to expand your personal awareness and experience more happiness and joy in your life.
If you need help expanding your mind, try Holosynch. Holosynch is based on brain wave research. It helps you decrease anxiety and depression and increase creativity. They will send you a free CD.
This past week I delivered a speech titled “Stand In Your New School Power and Dare to Make a Difference” at Agape Toastmasters. The talk is about how to take control of that negative voice that holds you back from doing what you want to do in life.
Perhaps you’ll identify with the people-pleasing perfectionist voice of Puleza as portrayed in this presentation. Listening to Puleza will lead to a life based on fear but it is possible to take back your power and live from a place of love. This video will show you how.
For more support in overcoming self-defeating thinking and behavior, get the book From Sabotage to Success where you can learn how to identify the negative self-talk that holds you back. You will also learn fun and easy tools, tips, techniques and strategies to reach your true potential.
